Kevin specializes in PostgreSQL, JavaScript, Perl, and Haxe, among many other programming technologies he’s explored since grade school. Primarily a lead desktop and full-stack developer, he enjoys project management, back-end technologies, and game development. With more than 20 years of remote work experience, Kevin excels both independently and as part of a team. Notably, he is a Pluralsight author and ranks in the top 2% on Stack Overflow.

I've always been intrigued by alternative tech, from BeOS/Haiku to Mithril to Haxe to Svelte, but I also appreciate my time spent using mainstream technologies.

In recent years…

I passed the rigorous screening of Toptal, then spent a year as Talent on their platform, working as a senior back-end engineer.
After submitting a post to the Toptal Engineering Blog, they decided to hire me as an editor. After that, I worked on hundreds of software development articles, edited an article on Toptal Insights, and wrote an article for Staffing.com, among others. I was promoted to Senior Editor, then Lead Editor, then Managing Editor, before returning to freelancing in late 2023.
After pursuing creating video courses for PluralSight, I switched gears and started authoring code labs and “Skill IQ” assessments for them instead.
Lately I’ve taken an interest in learning Elixir.

Just prior to that…

I was a confirmed expert at Hack.Hands() with great ratings before the service was sunset.
Similarly, I had passed the challenge at Codementor and had begun to put my experience to use teaching others. I’m not currently available, but I did have great ratings so far if you are interested in short- or long-term mentorship. If you would like to mentor others, sign up today!
I had discovered exercism.io and found it a great way to learn and help others learn new programming languages. Practice test-driven development, and then compare your solution with everyone else’s. Comment, discuss, and learn together, on a mindfully evolving free platform.

My independent consulting/freelancing rate is 100 EUR per hour, negotiable depending on the nature of the organization.
